The useless box is done!

So the useless box is finished!
And it works great:-) Designed in Fusion 360 and printed on my Ultimaker.
This is the result:

Project preview: Useless box

I'm currently working on a small project, more like a gimmick actually;-)
Most people who surfed the web for home made tech gadgets probably came across this one. So the idea isn't mine, the technical design is.
My interpretation of the useless box:-)
Currently i'm printing and creating parts so hopefully soon there will be a working prototype!

Some 3D test prints...

Today i printed some small testparts to see how they would turn out in relation to sharp edges and smooth surfaces. The parts also had countersunk holes for hex nuts and cilinder head bolts. Pretty impressed how it turned out, very sharp and a tight fit.
The material used was the Ultimaker brand silver PLA, nozzle 0.25 with a 0.1 layer height.

3D Printer!

A few days ago my 3D printer arrived, an Ultimaker 2+
Beautiful machine, well designed and well build. The packaging was also well takin' care of.
So first unboxing, unpacking and finding out how it's all ment to work, and then hopefully the first testprints will come out soon:-)

Pipeflow animation macro for Inventor

This video demonstrates my pipeflow macro i build for Autodesk Inventor to visualise a flow in a pipe system. Just for presentation purposes. It was written in VBA, all parts are native Inventor. The entire route, direction, speed and color a customizable. I made this as a final exam for my ACE Mechanical Designer study at CAD College Nijmegen (TEC).

Business cards box

I had the idea for a while to design a card holder, one with space for more cards then my wallet and of course would be my own design. 3D printing would ofcourse be perfect for this job!
It consists of five printed parts, spring locks, and has one card locked in the backside. I made a personal QR card for this:-)

Simple cable trays script

For the creation of cabletrays in Plant3D i have been playing around with some simple AutoLISP code and parametric generated simple parts.
Its not very comprehensive yet, but a good start to simple trays for the purpose of reserving space in 3D plant designs. Work in progress so to speak:-)

iMike meets iLogic

Everyone who works frequently with 3D cad software as Autodesk's Inventor, probably has met iMike.
I have used him for years, and he has always been a useful human size reference.
But changing his attitude has often been difficult to do quickly.  So i combined iMike with some iLogic to change his appearance by using some sliders.
See the result above, what do you think?

Logo700 Rendered 3D CAD model

The picture below is a rendered image of a 3D CAD model of my Logo700 chopper made in Autodesk Inventor. The rendering is done in Autodesk Showcase.
Don't know how many hours were spent, but i'm quit satisfied with the result:-)

Rotorhead Logo700 Animation

As shown earlier in a photo rendered picture i made a 3D CAD model of the rotorhead of my Logo700 xxtreme. I used this model to create the following animation which shows how a rotorhead works and how you can steer the helicopter in different directions.
The model is made in Autodesk Inventor 2014, and rendered in Inventor studio.
Editing was done in Apple iMovie. Let me know what you think:-)

Two RX Battery tray promo

For my Logo 700 xxtreme i designed a quick release battery tray to hold two 2S LiPo batteries.

These two will be connected by a Emcotec DPSI switch to achieve rx power redundancy.

3D CAD models... Logo xxtreme

At the moment i'm building a 3D CAD model from the Logo 700 exxtreme. It is purely a training exercise to increase my modelling capabilities.
Below you find the first results, the rotohead and the tailrotorcase. They are modeled in Autodesk Inventor 2012 and 2014, and are Ray traced rendered in Autodesk Showcase 2012.
